Houston Museums
Houston museums are an eclectic mixture of collections: historical and modern, sharply focused and broadly diverse. The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum and San Jacinto Museum of History are both fairly specific in their interests. The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH), has a vast artistic reach – even an underground tunnel connecting buildings old and new. Across the street is the Contemporary Arts Museum with something new every few months. The Menil Collection is one of the finest private assemblages of art in the world. Art lovers should not miss it! At the Houston Museum of Natural Science, in addition to the expected, museum goers will find a miniature rainforest with hundreds of live butterflies.
